What H.R. 1 Means for Your Benefits
A new federal law called H.R. 1 — also called the "Big Beautiful Bill" — is making changes to SNAP, Medicaid, and WIC.
We broke it down in plain language so you know exactly what is changing, who it affects, and what to do right now — for both Illinois and Missouri.
What is H.R. 1?
H.R. 1 is a large federal budget bill passed in 2025. It makes big cuts to programs that help low-income families — including food assistance (SNAP), health insurance (Medicaid), and nutrition support for moms and babies (WIC).
Some changes are already in effect. Others are being phased in over the next few years. The most important thing you can do right now is stay enrolled, respond to any letters you receive, and reach out to us if you need help.
