We are thrilled to announce that the next cohort of the Virtuous Doula Training Program will begin on September 8, 2025, and run through November 17, 2025!
Orientation will take place on September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2025.
Applications will be released in July 2025 — stay tuned and be ready!
Hosted by Charity Bean, SPM, and Marvella Ying Clayburne, your Illinois-based instructors at @The Doula Lab, this dynamic 12-week program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and hands-on experience to serve in high-need maternal health environments.
The Virtuous Doula Training Program is a comprehensive 12-week hybrid training, combining doula education, community health worker certification, and patient care technician training, offered both online and in-person. Our goal is to prepare compassionate, culturally competent doulas ready to serve in underserved communities and maternal health deserts.
Cohort Size: Limited to 40 participants
Selected applicants will receive confirmation emails with next steps.
Learn essential maternal health competencies, community health worker standards, CPR and HIPAA certification, and review key data from the Perinatal and Maternal Health Reports (PAMR). CEUs available.
🔹 Clinical Training
Our mandatory clinical program includes shadowing nursing staff, completing skill-based competency checklists, and practicing effective communication protocols in clinical settings.
🔹 Refresher & Recertification
Graduates can return every 2–3 years for continuing education in mental health screenings, self-care, and updates in trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care.
🔹 Multilingual Access
Training is available in Somali, Arabic, and French to support bilingual doulas and better serve non-English speaking families.
