Join the Interest ListWhat is a Perinatal Health Worker?
A Perinatal Health Worker (PHW) is a trained community health professional who provides education, advocacy, and hands-on support to families during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. PHWs serve as a trusted bridge between families and the healthcare system — especially in communities that have historically been underserved.
The PHW certification equips you with the knowledge and skills to support clients through prenatal care navigation, labor support, infant feeding, postpartum recovery, and mental health awareness. Graduates are prepared to work in clinical settings, community organizations, home visiting programs, and independent practice.
This certification is designed for aspiring doulas, community health workers, nurses, social workers, and anyone passionate about improving birth outcomes for Black and brown families.
